    The School of Marxism shoulder the ideological and political theory courses of more than 20,000 students and a number of specialized courses and public optional courses of undergraduates. It is an important center for ideological and political theory teaching and research, and political advisory and propaganda.

    The School of Marxism has experienced historic changes. It originated from the Political Education Office founded in 1952, and transferred tothe Teaching and Research Office of Marxism(one of the nine public teaching and research office then) under the Academic Affairs Office in 1955. In 1972, it was renamed as Politics Division and merged into the the Political Office. In February 1978, it was independent from the Political Office and re-organized under the nameTeaching and Research Office of Marxism-Leninism, consisting of three divisions, Philosophy, Political Economics, and Chinese Communist Party History. In November 1992, the Department of Social Sciences established with the combination of three teaching and research offices, Marxism-Leninism, Ideological and Political Education, and Mining Corporate Management. In 1996, the department was renamed as the Department of Economics and Social Sciences. In July 2007, the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences was established with the combination ofthree teaching and research offices, including Marxist Principles, Marxism in China, and Ideological and Political Education, and in August 2010, it adopted the name School of Humanities and Social Sciences. In April 2011, the Ideological and Political Theory Teaching Department was set up separately, and in March 2016, it was renamed as School of Marxism.

    The School is composed of five teaching and research offices, namely Marxist Principles, Marxism in China, Ideological and Political Education, Essentials of Chinese Modern History, and Situation and Policy, and three research institutes of Anhui University of Science and Technology, including Marxist Theory, Law, and Chu-Huai Culture. Besides, the Research Institute of Anti-Corruption Culture and the Research Center of Xi Jinping’s New Age Socialism with Chinese Characteristics Thought of Anhui University of Science and Technology are affiliated to the School.

    At present, the total number of faculty and staff is 38, including 3 Full Professors, 15 Associate Professors, 16 Assistant Professors, 31 teachers with doctoral or master's degrees, 3 doctoral candidates and 3 master's candidates.

    In recent years, Anhui University of Science and Technology has paid special attention to the ideological and political theory courses and the discipline construction of the Marxist theoretical. The School has achieved a great deal in teaching, research, and many other aspects. The course “Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Legal Basis” and the course “Introduction to the Basic Principles of Marxism” have been selected as “Excellent Courses” of Anhui University of Science and Technology, and The teaching team of “Marxist Theory” course was honored as the “Outstanding Teaching Team” of Anhui University of Science and Technology. In the past five years, faulty members of theSchool have published approximately 200 academic papers, authored above 10 monographs and textbooks, and presided over more than 60 provincial/ministerial-level research programs. Besides they have won 5 provincial-level teaching and research achievement awards.
